Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Rectortown United Methodist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming Service at 11:00 am on May 19th, and we’re hoping you will join us for this very special event! We look forward with joyful expectation to a day of reconnecting with past members, friends and family - of forging new friendships - and making new memories. We’d love to share with you what we’ve got going on now at Rectortown UMC, as well as our vision and our hope for future ministries and missions. Our doors will be open at 10:00 am, and we hope you’ll come early to enjoy some fellowship time before the service.
Immediately following the worship service, we will host a potluck lunch. Our Fellowship Committee will provide the drinks and meat; but asks that you please bring one of your favorite dishes or deserts to share. There will be tables and chairs set up both inside and outside, and we ask that you pleasebring a lawn chair or two with you if you plan to enjoy some outdoor fellowship time. Please plan on staying after the luncheon to enjoy some more fellowship and some special musical entertainment.
Reverend Jerry Bishop (retired) will be our Homecoming speaker. Pastor Bishop faithfully served in many positions in the Virginia Conference, including as Pastor of RectortownUnited Methodist Church.
Established in 1781, Rectortown United Methodist Church has been blessed to faithfully serve the Rectortown communityfor 238 years; and we’re proud this year to celebrate 125 yearsin our current church building! We gratefully build on a long and rich heritage as we continue striving to provide a safe and comfortable space where all may come and be welcome to worship, learn, fellowship and grow in faith through a variety ofboth new and ongoing church and community events. If you would like to partner with us as we continue to serve our Rectortown neighbors, perhaps you might consider a special gift to help us: improve our church building by installing an entry porch at the Fellowship Hall door, installing a new roof and gutters, and painting both inside and out; remove dying trees near the White House and along our fence line; connect to a proposed Rectortown Fiber Internet Network; update our office equipment and improve/expand our social media presence.
We are excited to again host our annual Homecoming event and look forward to seeing you! If you have questions, please feel free to contact our Church Administrative Assistant, Vicki Willis, by phone at 540-364-1066, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Steve Weedling
