Pastor Weedling, who has been appointed to the Rectortown-Middleburg Cooperative Parrish since July 2016, was our Homecoming speaker. He was the speaker at Homecoming 2016 so it was fitting he spoke again this year, bringing his tenure at RUMC to a close.
Our Church Historian, Diane Harrington, worked hard over the past two years to create a Time Capsule that was buried during our Homecoming Celebration this year. We plan to open it again at Homecoming in May of 2047! Thanks to everyone who contributed artifacts, photos, and stories to the time capsule.
Following the service and time capsule dedication, everyone enjoyed a delicious catered meal of fried chicken, ham, traditional side salads, and wonderful home made desserts. We were entertained by Hoot 'n Holler Band with lively country and bluegrass music.
Many thanks to all who worked tirelessly the months before, during and after, to make this day extra special and to everyone who donated to Kits for Conference and non perishable food items to support our local community. It was a truly meaningful celebration of family and friends of RUMC.
